Building fire – Tilbrook - Huntingdonshire
17/10/2025 1.52AM
At 1.52am on Friday (17) crews were called to a fire on Station Road in Tilbrook.
More than 30 firefighters, including crews from Kimbolton, Huntingdon, St Neots, St Ives and Yaxley, along with the water carrier from Ramsey and crews from Raunds and Thrapston in Northamptonshire, attended the incident.
Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a barn containing around 300 tonnes of straw. They worked hard to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading.
Crews remain at the scene continuing to tackle the fire. There will be smoke as a result of the firefighting tactics, which you might see on your travels this morning. Also, if you live in the area and are being affected by the smoke, please keep your doors and windows closed. There is however no need to contact the fire service, we are at the scene and working hard to get the fire out.
Update - 11am
Crews remain at the scene tackling the fire. Good progress is being made but there will still be smoke in the area due to the complexity of the fire and the amount of straw affected. A teleporter has been called in and is lifting the straw out of the barn to allow firefighters to break it up. Water can then be put on the straw to douse the flames and smouldering. Due to these tactics, the fire is likely to burn for several days, but please be reassured crews are working as hard as they can to extinguish the fire.
