Building fire – Millfield - Peterborough

At 7.35am on Tuesday (17) crews were called to a fire on Russell Street in Millfield, Peterborough.

More than 30 firefighters, including crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Whittlesey, St Neots, Thorney and Huntingdon, along with the north roaming fire engine and crews from Market Deeping in Lincolnshire and Kettering in Northamptonshire, are currently at the incident.

Crews arrived to find a fire outside a building that was quickly spreading. They are working hard to tackle the fire and bring it under control.

There will be lots of emergency service vehicles in the area, so please avoid and find alternative routes to travel.

 

Update - 11.30am

The fire is now extinguished and crews remain at the scene making sure the area is safe.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters worked hard to reduce the spread of the fire and used hose reels to extinguish the fire and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan. 

One crew remains on scene and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

There were no injuries reported.
