Fire in the open – Wilburton - East Cambs

At 9.12am on Sunday (26) crews were called to a fire on Pools Road in Wilburton.

Crews from Ely, Cottenham, Chatteris and Manea, along with the water carrier attended the incident.

Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire in a landfill site. They worked hard to tackle the fire, which was in a different area to the previous fire during the week, and prevent it from spreading further. Using hose reels, jets and a specialist wetting agent they got the fire under control and extinguished.

The crews returned to their stations by 2pm.
