At 6.44pm on Saturday (8) crews from Wisbech, Thorney, Gamlingay, Huntingdon and the Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade, along with a specialist 4x4 vehicle from Thorney and a crew from West Walton in Norfolk, were called to a fire on Badgeney End in March.

Firefighters arrived to find a field on fire involving tyres that had spread to conifers and hedges.

Wearing breathing apparatus, they used hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire before dampening the area down.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental. 

Crews will be reinspecting the area today Sunday (9) to check for hotspots.
