Firefighters work together to rescue a sheep

Firefighters from Huntingdon and Cambridge came together earlier this week to rescue a trapped sheep in St Ives. 

Crews used a sled to make their way to a sheep that had become stuck in a river near Meadow Lane at around 4pm on Tuesday (22). The sheep then joined the firefighters on the sled to get back to solid ground. 

A fire service spokesperson said: "Whilst these types of incidents can't always be avoided, we would like to urge those that have animals to please ensure fences and gates are secure to reduce the chances of animals becoming stuck in places like rivers. 

“We train to be able to help animals who have found themselves stuck in a variety of scenarios so that we can free them safely.
