Council Tax information
Information about how council tax is spent by the Fire Authority is published and available to residents in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The information summarises the financial position and priorities of the Authority for that financial year and provides a breakdown of council tax rates.
These are currently produced by Peterborough City Council but the information remains the same for residents in Cambridgeshire.

For 2024/25, the financial statements have once again undergone a financial audit. Although the level of assurance gained has increased, due to the result of a disclaimer of opinion on the 2023/24 financial statements, the auditors have not yet obtained sufficient evidence to have reasonable assurance over all in-year movements and closing balances and have therefore issued a disclaimer of opinion for 2024/25. The Authority will continue to work with the external auditors through the Local Government Audit reset to ensure that assurance can be placed on future financial statements.

Please note that for the 2023/24 financial statements, although they have undergone a financial audit, the audit was incomplete due to the Government-issued backstop date. This meant the external auditors did not have sufficient time or resources to complete all audit tasks, particularly the verification of brought‑forward balances from 2022/23. For the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years, the national backlog of public‑sector financial audits resulted in similarly tight backstop deadlines, leaving auditors without enough time to fully assess all audit evidence. As a result, they have been unable to issue an unqualified audit opinion for these years; however, they have confirmed that this is solely because their full assessment could not be completed, and not due to any concerns with the Fire Authority’s financial statements.
