Data Quality Officer

We are looking for a Data Quality Officer to join our Business Intelligence & Performance team and play a key role in strengthening how data is managed, understood, and used across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence real change - helping ensure that the data underpinning operational and strategic decisions is accurate, reliable, and trusted.
Salary: £38,510 - £40,444 per annum
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Location: Huntingdon
Hybrid Working - we offer a flexible, agile, hybrid working pattern where you can work from home, as well as from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and other locations around Cambridgeshire.
About the role
As a Data Quality Officer, you will work across teams to monitor, improve, and champion data quality. You will investigate issues, support colleagues, and help embed best practice - ensuring data is fit for purpose and supports confident decision-making.
You will act as a key point of contact for data quality, working both proactively and reactively to identify improvements and drive change at source.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and improve data quality using dashboards, audits, and performance insights
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues, identifying root causes
- Support and advise data owners and system users to improve data accuracy
- Deliver engaging training and awareness sessions to promote best practice
- Coordinate data quality assessments across teams and services
- Maintain data quality logs, track trends, and report on risks and progress
- Work with digital and technical teams to develop data standards and improve systems
- Promote a strong organisational data quality culture
About you:
You will bring a keen eye for detail, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for improving how data is captured and used.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of core data quality principles (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, validity)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and data issues
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas simply
- Experience working with data and supporting others to improve its quality
- Confidence delivering guidance, training, or support to a range of users
