Being part of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) isn’t just about fighting fires - it’s about also making a difference through innovation, technology and collaboration. We’re looking for an Organisational Learning and Assurance Manager.  This is your chance to apply your skills where it really matters.  If you're looking for a role where you can make a real difference, CFRS could be the perfect place for you.

About the role

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to step into a high-impact role at the heart of organisational assurance and improvement. You’ll lead dynamic, targeted assurance activity that not only identifies emerging risks early but also drives meaningful change across the organisation. By diving deep into processes, controls, and performance, you’ll uncover insights that matter; providing clear, evidence-based recommendations that directly influence strategic decision-making and strengthen overall effectiveness.

In addition, you’ll play a central role in managing the end-to-end HMICFRS inspection process, working closely with the Service Liaison Officer to ensure seamless coordination, high-quality submissions, and accurate tracking of progress against Areas for Improvement. This is a highly visible and influential position where you’ll collaborate with stakeholders across all levels, shape organisational priorities, and ensure real accountability through robust tracking and reporting. If you’re motivated by making a tangible difference, enjoy uncovering the bigger picture, and thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment, this role offers a truly rewarding opportunity to leave a lasting impact.

About you:

You will be a proactive, analytical, and self-motivated professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality, evidence-based work. Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities, you will bring a structured approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. You will be confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels, using your communication skills to build trust, influence decisions, and drive positive outcomes.

You will bring:

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience making independent decisions and taking responsibility for outcomes
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative without close supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Experience producing high-quality written reports and using visual methods to present findings

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to source, interpret, and use data to inform practice
  • Ability to develop and implement new approaches to improve organisational outcomes
  • Confidence in preparing and presenting detailed reports to a range of stakeholders
  • High level of IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and specialist systems

Qualifications:

  • Educated to A-Level (or equivalent) with GCSEs A–C in English Language (essential)
  • A relevant degree or diploma (desirable)

Above all, you will bring curiosity, initiative, and a passion for making a meaningful impact - helping to strengthen assurance, support improvement, and drive organisational success.
