At 4.29pm on Sunday (26) crews from Stanground, the north roaming fire engine, Dogsthorpe, March, Thorney, Whittlesey, Wisbech, the Peterborough Volunteer Brigade, along with a specialist 4x4 vehicle from Thorney were called to a field fire on Aliwal Road in Whittlesey.

Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

The incident was later scaled down. Crews will be reinspecting the area overnight to continue checking for hotspots and to make the area safe.
